The Blademaster
Build Overview
The Blademaster is a high-skill rapier-and-shield build that replaces the nerfed Sinew and Glimmering Bulwark with the Pig Sticker and a custom parry-focused shield setup. It revolves around ultra-fast charge attacks, high crit chance, and life steal from bleed infusion to deliver massive single-target damage while staying surprisingly safe. The build is tuned to feel strong at every stage of progression, rewarding players more and more as they master its mechanics and finish its gear.
Key Features
- Pig Sticker rapier with Piercing Spin, Crushing Flurry, Charge Strike, and Brutal Reprise as the core rune kit, built around Piercing Spin for reliable knockdowns and Crushing Flurry for high burst.
- Bleed infusion plus life steal (on kill and vs. bleeding enemies) for strong sustain during aggressive, in-your-face play.
- Parry-tuned shield setup (damage-after-parry, focus-on-parry, and block DR) to recreate the old Bulwark feel while feeding you focus for repeated rune usage.
- Critical scaling as the backbone of the build: you need a minimum “3/1” crit split (3× Critical Hit Chance, 1× Critical Damage) on your crit-related slots, and a “4/1” split is even better to remove exalt RNG from the equation and guarantee consistency.
- If you have 5 crit-affix slots, 3/2 works but 4/1 is safest; if you only have 4 slots, aim for 3/1 or even 4/0, because the entire build is about securing a reliable critical hit on your very first charged attack every time.
Playstyle
Your core loop is simple: use rapid charge attacks to engage from range, then lock enemies down with Piercing Spin and delete them with huge crits. Against groups or dangerous elites, you open with a charge attack into Piercing Spin to knock everything down, then stutter-step to regenerate 50 focus and repeat the spin for a near-permanent lockdown. Parrying with your shield both boosts damage and restores focus, letting you chain high-cost runes like Crushing Flurry and Brutal Reprise while using fast rapier recovery to weave in dodges and counters.
